The System Test Engineer validates industrial automation products by performing system-wide and product-oriented testing to ensure interoperability, quality, and customer-ready releases. This role focuses on exercising real-world customer use cases, collaborating with Development teams, investigating customer issues, and improving test coverage and efficiency through automation within a global R&D environment.
Responsibilities
Define and execute system-wide and product-focused test cases based on customer workflows
Investigate, reproduce, and support resolution of customer-reported issues with Development teams
Document test procedures and record results in test management tools
Communicate test status, risks, and findings to team leadership
Provide test consultation and support to Development teams
Collaborate with customer-facing teams to understand applications and use cases
Drive continuous improvement in processes, test coverage, and test assets
Automate tests to improve efficiency and reliability
Follow established R&D and quality processes
Qualifications
BS or MS in engineering, software development, or related technical field
2+ years of experience in software testing, system testing, application engineering, or product development
Knowledge of industrial automation systems, PLCs, and automation applications
Experience with test methodologies, test frameworks (NUnit, MSTest), and test management tools
Programming or scripting experience with C# or similar languages
Familiarity with OPC UA, HMI, Industrial Communication, PROFINET
Experience with PLC languages (LAD, SCL)
Understanding of Agile methodologies and product lifecycle
Experience with version control systems (Git, TFS)
Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
Ability to work effectively in a global team environment
